One place: Your guide to public services in England

Visit the Directgov website

The area information on Oneplace comes from an evaluation of public services known as Comprehensive Area Assessment. These assessments ended in June 2010. This website covers the annual assessments first released in December 2009, and will not be updated further.

Performance indicators

Oneplace provides information about the performance of public services across England. The performance indicators that we use cover all of the most important issues nationally like reducing crime and unemployment, improving health, social care, people's quality of life and children's education.

This performance information is part of the evidence that we use to come to our conclusions - or judgements - about how well things are going now, and whether they will get better or worse in the future.

Search tip

Depending on what you are interested in, you can change how you compare performance in your area with others. For example you can compare your area with surrounding areas, or with areas that are most similar to where you live, or with the national average.
